90 people killed in suicide bombing in Yemen

At least 90 people were injured and over 200 others injured on Monday in Sanaa, Yemen when a suicide bombing occurred during an army parade training

The suicide bomber was wearing a military uniform and exploded in the middle of the queue of soldiers who were preparing for the parade at the Sabiine square to mark the 22^nd anniversary of the reunification of Yemen.

The Defence Minister and the Chief of Staff were attending the rehearsal but came out unaffected according to a military source.

President of Yemen, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi is going to attend the parade.

A witness said that there were “pieces of flesh scattered on the ground.”

At least three hundred people have been left wounded. This is the first attack of such magnitude in Sana since the president’s accession to power back in February this year. The attack comes as the Yemeni army is engaged since May 12, in a major offensive
against Al-Qaeda to regain the southern cities of the country that are controlled by the Islamists organisation.

The offensive has left 213 people dead which includes 147 Al-Qaeda fighters.
