Imran Khan criticizes President Zardari’s visit to Chicago

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 11:12:40 by

Apparently Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is not missing any opportunity to slash the government, particularly President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.

In his latest remarks, Imran Khan termed President Zardari’s participation in the two-day NATO summit insult of the whole nation, saying that US President Barack Obama did not appreciate Pakistan’s role despite tremendous sacrifices rendered by it in the war on terror.

Addressing a press conference, the cricketer-turned-politician said that the US was not ready to recognize the role of Pakistan in the so-called war against militancy.

In quite a defiant mood, Imran Khan cautioned that the PTI would throw the convicted premier out of the power with support of masses if the apex court rejected his appeal.

He observed, “Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has a very prominent status in the Islamic world and his acceptance of an invitation from a convicted PM is like accepting him as a prime minister”.

The PTI chief said the premier’s conduct vis-à-vis the judiciary was not hidden from anyone and there was no doubt he had committed contempt of court. Although Gilani is still chief executive of the country as per the Constitution of Pakistan, he has no moral grounds to hold the office, he added.

Charging the Chicago moot, he said neither Pakistan’s sacrifices were acknowledged nor President Asif Ali Zardari was given any importance during its deliberations.

Expressing disappointment that the US had given no importance to the unanimous resolution adopted by Pakistani parliament, he said, “Neither the parliamentary resolutions nor Zardari was given importance in Chicago”.

The former captain was of the opinion that policies were made on the basis of national interests and not on fear of external forces. Making it clear that the PTI was not against army but opposed to what he called its role in political affairs.

He proposed an idea saying the caretaker government should be formed with the consultation of all political parties. He commented, “This war was never ours but we sacrificed more than one can imagine”.

He asked the government to end coalition with the US in the so-called war against militancy, suggesting them to initiate negotiations with the tribes to restore peace and normalcy in the region.

Imran Khan is quite genuine person, but sometimes one has to compromise one’s ego for the sake of collective benefit. the collective benefit is to allow the government to complete the remaining period to form a strong base for the democracy. From this corrupt government, Pakistanis have learnt lot, and hope they will not repeat the mistake in next election. Imran Khan can come on the road to remove the ppp govt. but one has to see the consequences. The fragile economy will have the worst affect, it will bring the country to stand still until the new elected government. Elections are in any way due in March 2013, so swallow the bitter pill but direct the energy on burning issues like, target killing in Karachi, give the people a concrete programme what he will be doing and how he will be doing once the people give him their mandate. He has to spend his energy on marketing so the pakistanis would not fall into any other scam. Educate people, spread his youngsters in streets, door to door campaign, it’s a hard work but achievable. Do not set any example of throwing the government as history has told us that we will end up in dictatorship and one man show due to politcian’s narrow mindedness. Through Parliament demand the government to change their PM, make your lobby strong in Parliament.

    good luck

Oh yes! really lucky! Doesn’t anyone realise that the more we participate in the ‘war on terror’, the greater the chances that the taliban and the tribal areas will turn on us once the US leaves the area. That is what the US needs rite now; a scapegoat. And Pakistan is in the ideal place to be just that.

And who suffers at the end? Our politicians will be living in Europe in some villa without a care in the world, whereas the rest of the nation would suffer.

IK was in the right when he decided not to go to the dinner. Gilani is not worth it. He is a convicted criminal.

Well known fears to defend the kneeling down mentality of both, countrys leaders and the people who elect them through elections or emotional hangamaas every now and then whenever CIA injects some briefcases of dollars into the veins of the countrys corrupt elements wherever and whenever needed to satisfy America. I would say the best medicine against this psychopathic and hereditary trait of this nation and its so called leader is to teach and convince all childern of this country from the very first year of school to the highest academic achievment they can that it is better to die on your feet then living on your knees always hoping that Allah would help us by making America give us some always much needed cash like a prostitute in Heera Mandi, even she has a class as her customers come to her in most of the cases.

Btw elections will not be held in March 2013 in my opinion and I have a strong reason for that. PPP is planning to bring in Bilawal in elections and he can’t contest until he turns 25. He is turning 25 in September 2013 and elections will be held after that. Bilawal plans contesting elections from Lahore.
