Aamir Khan should not apologise to doctors says Javed Akhtar and Tannishtha

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has demanded an apology from actor Aamir Khan as they believe he has sent a ‘wrong message’ about their community in his programme ‘Satyamev Jayate’. However, the Indian actress Tannishtha Chatterjee and Javed Akhtar, who is a main stream writer, feels that Khan has not defamed the medical profession at all and therefore he shouldn’t apologise to anyone.

Khan, now 46, remained under a lot discussion due to the episode of his TV show, which was broadcasted on May 27^th because the actor highlighted malpractices in the medical department in it. After the episode an umbrella body of 21 medical institutions asked Aamir to apologise for accusing doctors of malpractices.

Nevertheless, Tannishtha and Akhtar think Khan has not done something wrong.

Tannishtha said, “He should not apologize to IMA. What Aamir talked about in his show was about malpractices in the medical profession. It is very essential to voice our opinions against it. I don’t think he defamed honest and noble doctors even one bit. On the contrary, he celebrated them. So many doctors came on his show. I have a lot of doctor friends who supported this show. Honest doctors will absolutely support a voice like this because they themselves are vicand fight this treacherous system all the time. It is the dishonest ones who would be hurt by this.”

“The Indian Medical association wants Aamir to apologise for exposing corruption in their profession. That is really sick,” Akhtar posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

“It is not Aamir Khan but some immoral dishonest greedy and corrupt doctors who are insulting the medical profession and many honest doctors,” wrote Akhtar.

Well, all said and done, the medical community warned Aamir Khan of legal action if he didn’t apologise but let’s see how they respond to the situation now.

‘Satyamev Jayate’, which is a talk show, is broadcasted at 11 am on every Sunday.
