Thailand Open 2012: Ratchanok Inthanon enters into Women’s Singles semi-final

Ratchanok Inthanon, the top shuttler in Thailand, did not disappoint her home fans as she powered her way into Women’s Singles semi-final at Thailand Open 2012 on Friday, June 8, in Thailand.

The Thai lady defeated Minatsu Mitani of Japan in the quarter-final battle and lived up to expectations of her home fans.

The World Number 11 Ratchanok, who is the second seed in Women’s Singles draw of the championship, showed her class as she did not drop any game and ousted her seventh seeded Japanese opponent in an emphatic fashion.

The higher ranked Ratchanok put up remarkable show of top quality badminton and wrapped up victory by ending up the match in straight game by consuming just 37 minutes in the court.

In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Japanese lady failed to stretch her winning run in the tournament as she could not cope up with the elevated play of her higher ranked Thai opponent and bowed to her in two sets with a decent score on the board.

Both ladies played good badminton in the starting points of opening game and also remained close until the score reached at 6-6.

Nonetheless, the Thai lady geared up her speed and controlled the affairs of the game. She managed to set up a reasonable lead and maintained it until the one-minute interval by reaching at 11-7.

After the one-minute break, Ratchanok continued showing her tremendous skills in the court as she did not let Minatsu to narrow the gap at any stage.

The in-form Ratchanok wrapped up the opening game with an inspiring 21-14 margin on the score board.

In the second game, it was the lower ranked Japanese shuttler who started to play flawless badminton and remained ahead of her local opponent until the one-minute interval by reaching at 11-8.

Nevertheless, Ratchanok changed her tactics and played with precision which helped her to make the score levelled at 11-11.

Thai lady continued her positive run and remained successful in winning the second set with a tight 21-19 margin on the score board.

Ratchanok emerged as victorious against her lower ranked Japanese opponent in a sensational fashion by a 21-14 and 21-19 margin on the score board.
