Siachen talks begin between Indian and Pakistan officials

Pakistani and Indian officials have started talks to end the Siachen dispute that has cost sides, money and blood in the past many decades.

As many as 140 people were killed on April 7th 2012 after an avalanche hits the Pakistan’s side of the Glacier.

For those who are not familiar with the geographical locality of the region, Siachen Glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram Range in the Himalaya Mountains.

It is situated at approximately 35.421226°N 77.109540°E, where the India and Pakistan Line of Control ends.

Siachen is the longest glacier in the Karakoram ranges and the second-longest in the world’s non-polar regions.

There is a huge military conflict between Pakistan and India over the disputed Siachen Glacier region which lies in Kashmir.

The Siachen War started back in 1984 after India’s successful operation Meghdoot and both the nations agreed on a cease fire in 2003 but the region has never been completely peaceful since the war started.

The war has undoubtedly taken a number of lives from both the sides but the biggest killer at the Siachen Glacier is not the arms.

Cruel weather conditions at the region make it impossible to survive and the harsh climate is known to be the biggest killer in the area.

It appears as if both the sides are now willing to end the never-ending and the two day talks is most likely to bring positive results.

However, India’s Defence Minister AK Antony’s comments does not seem very promising when he briefed that India would brief its, “clear-cut position” on Siachen to the Pakistanis.

“Do not expect any dramatic announcement or decision on an issue which is very important for us, especially in the context of national security,”

On the other hand, Pakistani officials also refuse to shed any light on the matter. “The two sides will discuss Siachen and other matters related to defence affairs,” as reported by AFP.

Lets be Honest here, both countries have no interest in moving down from Siachin Glacier, These talks are only taking place because India and Pakistan both need each another in Recent future.

India need more energy (GAS/Petrol from IRAN) and its coming Via Pakistan.

Pakistan need to improve its Image to the world and TRADE.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY —- Elections are coming
