Visio launches the new line of PCs including two ultrabooks, Thin+Light – Part 1

Visio has been a market leader in consumer products like AV devices and monitors but in January the company announced that it will take a plunge into the real business, PC manufacturing. The company has years of expertise on PC peripheral as LCD and LED computer monitors but its entrance into the real deal is subject to the quality of its merchandize.

The company staged an event in New York for the launch of its line of PCs that ranges from laptops to All-in-one desktops and ultrabooks. However, the eye-catcher was undoubtedly the two ultrabooks that will soon adorn top shelves.

The company released two ultrabooks under the header of Thin+Light. Both are thin, powerful and solid in feel and bring a no-nonsense set of features that will make the competition interesting. Though the company is targeting the premium ultrabook market, the prices are kept low to lure more and more people to the new products.

Currently, Thin+Light has two iterations of ultrabook in place, the 14- and 15-inch models. Although both look the same at first glance, there are some difference in stark contrast including hardware and build.

Unlike other companies that release different iterations of a single model, segregating them only on screen sizes, Visio has changed a number of features in both versions like the screen resolution.

The 14-inch version, CT14, looks more like the MacBook Air from Apple. Though it does not have the same tapered design with a razor-like front edge like the Air, it does have a unibody metallic structure like the Apple product. It is a hair lighter than Air and at 0.66 inches a little thinner as well.

The edges and sides are also akin to the finishing touches of the MacBook Air but rubber undersides are more like the XPS 13 from Dell, another ultrabook that Visio was inspired by during CT14’s design phase.
