Muhammad Sami, the Pakistani pacer, performed extraordinarily bad, gifting one-day series to Sri Lanka. The host team edged out Pakistan in the final game of the five-match series to clinch the trophy played at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The batsmen of the host team, particularly, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal, put a tremendous show to chase a target of 248 runs in the final over of the game.

Following the match, Pakistan Team Captain Misbal-ul-Haq while talking to media praised the game of Sri Lankan players.

He observed, “The way Mathews played he took the game away from us,” says Misbah-ul-Haq. “We were 15-20 short. They bowled well at the end. Again, the fielding let us down. They really gave us tough time, especially Angelo. Mendis played very well too. We have to forget this and improve our performance in the Tests”.

Mahela Jayawardene, the Sri Lankan captain remarked, “It was a great game and the whole series was fantastic. We had to dig deep at times, and today were no different. Bowled beautifully, fielded magnificently, we knew he could bat too. We just need to focus on little things like we did in the one-dayers”.

Although the Pakistani bowling section played with determination, they failed to stop host team from achieving the target that was not quite easy at all.

Sohail Tanveer was the leading bowler from Pakistan who took three wickets while Muhammad Hafeez and Shahid Afridi sent one batsman each to the pavilion.

Earlier, Pakistani opener Imran Farhat and Umar Akmal cracked half-centuries as Pakistan posted a competitive 247-7 against the host team in the fifth and final one-day.

Farhat, playing his first one-dayer in four months, scored an impressive 56 while Umar Akmal an unbeaten 55 in the day-night match to keep alive hopes of the Green-Shirts of leveling the series.

The host team was leading the series by 2-1 in the five-match series, with one game abandoned due to rain.

Misbah-ul-Haq failed to ring the necessary changes in the last five overs to got wickets of tail-enders that also deprived Pakistan of victory which was looking imminent at one stage for the Green-Shirts.

The outcome was never in doubt because the Green-Shirts were lavish in granting any wish of the opposition, extras, dropped catches, undeserved runs were all gifted away.
