Khurram Agha surges into semi-final stage ousting Mohammad Javed in 3rd Ranking Snooker

Jubilee Insurance 3^rd National Ranking Snooker Championship featured a couple of thrilling competitions at the Karachi Gymkhana Club baize during the proceedings of the quarter-final stage. The most experienced potter in the national ranks, Khurram Agha showed his class and was able to beat Mohammad Javed by the score line of 5-3 in his quarter-final game.

Agha got lucky and grabbed the lead until the finish of the match. Despite playing well in the first session of the match, Javed was unable to maintain the momentum and tumbled two frames down. Agha has a tough competition ahead because he will be playing against Shahram Changezi in the semi-final clash.

Agha played impressively in the round robin formatted group matches and finished on top podium placed at the end to book his place in the quarter-final stage. During his Championship run, the Punjabi potter had some tough games but he stayed focused and steadily built his momentum.

Agha grabbed a tremendous victory in the opening frame where he fired a tremendous knock to compile 76 points. The second frame was tussling as both potters were quite cautious and focused. However, Javed took the leading advantage and pulled level at 1-1 after winning the frame by the score line of 50-68.

In the third frame of the math, Javed stunned Agha with a classy break to build 85 points in reply to Agha’s eight point run. With the third frame win, Javed was now leading the game by the score line of 1-2. The veteran Agha did not let it go so easy and in the very next frame, he turned the tables with terrific snooker shots. He won the frame by 112-9 and equalised the score-board.

With back-to-back frame wins by 77-56 and 59-16 after the interval, Agha grabbed a strong position. Javed could win only one frame by 2-65 which was not enough to stop Agah’s run as he took the eighth frame with the score line of 71-57 and claimed the victory easily.
