AsusTEK is penetrating briskly into the tablet market. In less than a year, the Taiwanese technology giants have released the third iteration of the Transformer tablet. This time the animal unleashed at Beitou District, Taipei is the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 with an astonishing screen.

The new Transformer Pad is more of an upgrade to the TF201, more commonly known as the Transformer Prime that was released in 2011. The new tablet has all the goodies of Prime down to the depth of the device, however, some of the features—hardware mostly—have been tweaked a little bit to built the tablet’s own image.

Both the Prime and Pad TF300 had received complaints on the GPS reception. The company heard them loud and clear. The new tablet has remedied the issue by covering the GPS receiver with a plastic shell. Do not have worries, rest of the structure is unibody aluminium design, light and slim as the Prime.

The screen is the major selling point of the new device. It sports a pixel resolution at par with Acer Iconia Tab A700. The hardware has been revamped with buttons like volume rocker and power/sleep get a satisfying press. The overall hardware specs are the same as Transformer Pad but are tweaked to churn more power for sharp display.

Design

The new tablet has the same overall design as Transformer Prime TF201. It is the same thin and weighs exactly the same. The width and height of all Asus tablets are a standard at 10.4 and 7.1, respectively.

Despite the fact that it is third iteration and not the third generation of the Transformer series, the company has increased the ergonomics of the new device with the new dock. It looks like the same as the cradle that comes optional with the Prime and Pad TF300, however, the keyboard is at little more smaller, which might be a little cramped for bigger hands but the soft touch and easy press lets the user get used to it in a matter of days. There is touch pad underneath the keyboard that promptly brings forth a mouse cursor on the 10.1 touch screen.
