SC directs Riaz to appear before the court for hearings

Islamabad: (Thursday, June 28, 2012) The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has rejected Malik Riaz’s plea to be exempted from appearing in the court for the hearing process of the contempt of court case. Earlier, Riaz had pleaded the court to exempt him from
marking his presence at every hearing of the case.

A three member bench comprised of Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Tariq Parvez and Justice Amir Hani Muslim resumed the hearing of the contempt of court case against the real estate tycoon.

While the Bahria Town management has engaged a senior lawyer Dr Abdul Basit for the case, the court has granted him time until July 2 to thoroughly study the case and then submit his reply.

The Supreme Court has summoned the record of Arsalan Iftikhar suo moto case to the next hearing which is now due on July 4.
