Amir Khan Vs Danny Garcia: Will the Bolton proud reclaim his WBA title?

Amir Khan will lock horns with the current WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada but the Brit will also have a chance to reclaim his WBA light-welterweight title since Lamont Peterson has been stripped off the belt following his positive drug test.

The Bolton’s finest, who is more commonly known as King Khan, had planned to move up to the 147 pounds division but his dreams were quashed by the American, who shocked almost everyone out there by securing a win over him.

However, Khan can come back under the main lights once again with a win over Garcia but it is certainly not going to be a cake walk for him, as the Puerto Rican pugilist has never been defeated in the ring as of yet.

Garcia, known as ‘Swift’, holds a perfect record of wining all of his 23 professional fights, with 14 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Moreover, he will be an underdog on the fight and this thing will certainly keep the pressure away from him.

On the other hand Khan will be under a lot of pressure because he has called it his last fight at 140 pounds and if he loses it again his image will get damaged badly. Furthermore, now it has become a unification bout with the WBA and WBC titles on-the-line.

Khan has said it on several occasions that his biggest dream is to set up a fight with the undefeated American legend, Floyd Mayweather junior.

Khan also believes that a win over Garcia will lead him to a potential fight with Mayweather, as he recently said it in an interview.

“In the world of boxing, there are very few names that can sell tickets and get big TV viewing figures now,” Khan said in East Side Boxing. “And I’m sure Mayweather is already talking about fighting me.”

“It’s about timing in this game, and Mayweather has shown in his last fight that he’s getting caught more, his feet have slowed down a lot, his defense is not like it used to be, and his upper body and lateral movement is not the same anymore,” he said.

Well, keeping all these facts in front, it is fair to say that Khan will be the one under pressure on the fight night but let’s see if he still manages to hold his nerves.
