Deepika Padukone: Emotionally I’m very similar to the screen character in Cocktail

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is gaining a lot media limelight these days because of her curvaceous figure and audacious act in Homi Adajania’s upcoming film ‘Cocktail’.

In the film Deepika will be featured as Veronica, a super confident girl who flaunts her attitude and lives the life the way she want to and not the way society expects her to.

When asked Deepika if she has any shades of her character in her real life, the actress, who is currently wrapping up ‘Race 2’ in Turkey, said emotionally she is very similar to the character of Veronica.

She told TOI over the phone, “Emotionally I’m very similar to the screen character in Cocktail. I’m a sensitive and emotional person, but I’ll never show it. I put on this tough exterior… Or at least I think I do….”

She said, “I’ve had a very simple, protected middle-class upbringing. In my family, relationships and marriages have been rock solid and so I grew up in a very happy, stable environment, unlike Veronica.”

I was and sometimes still am very shy and an introvert. Some people misunderstand that and think that I’m snooty. But around my close friends and people I’m comfortable with, I am Veronica!”

Along with Veronica’s role, the 26-year-old bombshell was also offered Meera’s character, the more sober one, but she deliberately picked Veronica’s character as she believed it was more challenging.

She stated, “He offered me the choice of either character. Both roles excited me. And while I felt Veronica was a lot more challenging to play as a character, I was also nervous about whether I’d be able to pull it off.“

‘Cocktail’ is scheduled to hit the cinema halls on July 13. Apart from Deepika, the film will featured Diana Penty, Dimple Kapadia, Boman Irani and Saif Ali Khan, who has co-produced the movie with Illuminati Films.

Let’s see if the film lives up to the expectations and generates some money at the box office.
