Danny Garcia at the verge of destroying Amir Khan’s brand

WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia believes he is on the verge of destroying Amir Khan’s brand for good. In his recent interview, the unbeaten American came up saying that Khan’s all previous fights were set-ups.

“All of his other fights were set-up fights to make him look good. This fight right here, he’s going to have his hands full,” Garcia said. He added, “I know that I’m going to hurt him in this fight. I think it’s the perfect time for this fight.”

Garcia will be taking on Khan at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. When asked about his speculation regarding the fight, Garcia stated, “I’m the champion, and he calls himself the best. If he calls himself the best then he has to beat the champion. Everybody says he’s fast and all that, but he reaches a lot with his punches and I think that’s where he goes wrong. I’m a great counter-puncher, so if he comes in and he wants to reach, then he has to pay.”

Although Garcia is the underdog for July 14’s showdown, he, along with his father, is highly confident that he will win. On the other hand, Khan wants to emerge victorious to ensure his brand stays alive. After the controversial defeat to Lamont Peterson last year in December, Khan has lost his image as one of the best young fighters in the world. As of right now, he is seen as a fighter with a ‘big mouth’, at least by his opponents.

Both the pugilists have proven themselves in their own ways. They both have faced some of the most brutal fighters in their division yet have emerged victorious. Now, it is a clash between the two young pugilists who are striving hard to cement their legacy. Whether or not Garcia will end Khan’s brand is yet to be known but what can be said for sure is that Khan will definitely have a tough time against the unbeaten American.
