Sarabjit Singh’s sister confident about Salman Khan’s initiative

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who has always been known for his friendly gestures and countless acts of charity, recently appealed to Pakistan for the release of Sarabjit Singh, who is on his death row in Lahore jail for the past over 22 years.

After the actor voiced his support, Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur met him and she is pretty sure that Khan’s initiative will help in the release of her younger brother.

“I felt really good after talking to Salman Khan. Today we are having a press conference at Raza Murad’s residence at 2 in the afternoon,” Dalbir Kaur told IANS.

“I came yesterday (Sunday) morning and met Salman Khan yesterday itself. I am sure Salman’s initiative will help in release of Sarabjit.”

While sharing her thought with the media, Kaur stated that Khan is following the case properly and he has vowed to be with them till the end.

“I am so glad that Salman Khan has taken an initiative on Sarbajit’s issue. Woh kafi gambhir hain iss masle ko lekar (Salman is quite serious about this issue). He is not just tweeting, but he is with us until Sarbajit is not released. It’s not that he is just tweeting and leaving the issue unsorted.”

Last Tuesday, reports from Pakistan came that an Indian actor Sarabjit Singh was being released after President Zardari granted him pardon. However, later on in the evening president’s spokesperson clarified that the authorities have been mistaken and the actual prisoner being released is Surjeet Singh.

The 46-year-old actor posted a message on his Twitter account after seeing Sarabjit’s family in pain.

“Requesting the people of Pakistan to support me to help free Sarabjit who has been in prison since 30 yrs. Please..Allah ka vasta.”

Well, all said and done, Sarabjit’s family has met the External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna in the capital as well and Krishna has assured them that the matter will be followed properly.

Let’s see if Sarabjit Singh really gets out of the jail now.
