Ching Chieh Tai claims Women’s Singles title at Li-Ning Victorian International

Ching Chieh Tai, an upcoming female shuttler from Chinese Taipei, defied all odds to claim Women’s Singles title after putting up phenomenal show against her team-mate Yu Chieh Cheng in the final encounter in last week’s Li-Ning Victorian International that
took place in Australia.

Ching Chieh, who has been playing competitive badminton for the last six months, finally got the much needed breakthrough as she showed her brilliance while playing against her compatriot in final battle and won it in a commanding way.

The in-form Ching Chieh employed her attacking skills on court in first set and won it without any hassle.

She remained consistent on court in the following set and remained successful in finishing it off in a smashing manner and ended the fight in straight games with a wonderful margin by taking just 20 minutes.

In contrast, Yu Chieh had no answer to the fireworks of her in-form team-mate and failed to match the pace of rallies in the whole contest. She lost the final match in straight games with a huge margin.

Ching Chieh played dominating badminton in opening set by taking the bird early at net and pushed her rival in all areas.

The powerful smashes and control in Ching Chieh’s strokes earned her a superb advantage over her compatriot and she set up a stunning lead until the end of opening half.

After interval, Ching Chieh continued her inspirational presentation of elevated shots by taking the bird early and kept her competitor under pressure. She was in full swing and wrapped up first game with an amazing 21-14 score on the board.

Yu Chieh geared up her speed at the opening rallies of second game but failed to take lead as her opponent was quick in all corners.

In the meanwhile, Ching Chieh was in complete control and she played with variations in her shots. She was leading the game with a reasonable margin until the mid-game interval.

After the break, Ching Chieh maintained her aggressive performance and did not slow down her speed at any stage. She bagged the second set of the final battle with a superb 21-13 margin on the board.

The in-form Ching Chieh emerged as the title winner after ending up the final encounter with a staggering margin of 21-14 and 21-13.
