The Pakistani starlet Veena Malik, who recently made her Bollywood debut with Madhur Bhandarkar’s film ‘Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai’, is now gearing up for the Kannada version of Vidya Balan’s ‘Dirty Picture’, which was released last year on December 10.

Balan, who won her first National award with ‘The Dirty Picture’, gained almost over 12 kilograms to play the character of southern sex siren ‘Silk Smitha’.

The same role will now be played by Veena Malik and she claims that she has also gained 5 kilograms.

“I had to put on five kg for the role because the script demanded so. Size zero does not exist here in South. I was 48 kgs, now I am 53 kg. Fourty per cent of the shooting has been completed,” Veena Malik told IANS.

Many out there believe that the Kannada version is a copy of the original film but the 28-year-old controversial queen has insisted that the film is not a copy at all and her dialogue have not been dubbed.

“The Dirty Picture in Kannada has got no relation to the Hindi version. Yes, it is the story of Silk but it’s a different story. You will have to wait and watch. I am speaking in Kannada in the film. It’s not being dubbed.”

Apart from Kannada version, a Bengali version of ‘The Dirty Picture’ is being made as well and it will feature India’s very own item girl, Rakhi Sawant, in it.

Since Sawant too is known for her controversial behaviour, there are constant comparisons being made between Malik and Sawant.

Nevertheless, Malik is completely unfazed with the noise around her as she says judgments don’t bother her.

“No, it does not bother me because whenever any new thing comes, people tend to judge it or tag it. I am sure with time things will change. I am new here, so I am being judged. I don’t mind that because it is human nature,” she said.

Well, all said and done, Veena Malik’s debut film sank at the box office without any trace but let’s see if she can impress people this time.
