Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia: Khan feels relaxed as fight week draws closer

Bolton proud Amir Khan has released a public letter through his website for fans. The former IBF and WBA light welterweight champion has updated fans about his training camp and his preparation for the fight.

“Fight week is drawing closer and closer and I’m beginning to get into that fight zone frame of mind. It’s going to be a 16 week camp by the time I enter the ring and I’m feeling really good. I’m relaxed and know what I need to do to bring those belts back to Britain!” read the opening paragraph of Khan’s letter.

Khan is excited to have two titles on the line. He will be facing Danny Garcia of the USA, the current WBC light welterweight titlist. Therefore, Garcia’s title and the vacant WBA light welterweight title will be on the line for the winner to grab.

The WBA title was put on the line last week when the World Boxing Association stripped Lamont Peterson off the title following his failed drug test.

Khan also discussed his opponent in the letter. “Danny Garcia is a young fighter and is hungry for this so I’m not overlooking or underestimating him. There’s been a lot that has come out from his camp over the past few days but I’m not letting it affect me and I’m just getting on with my job. My business is in the boxing ring, that’s where I will be doing my talking. Everything that has been said I’m just using it as motivation and it’s made me even more determined to make sure it’s my hand that is raised at the end of the night,” Khan stated.

Since his controversial split decision loss to Lamont Peterson, this will be Khan’s first ever ring performance. According to the British-Pakistani boxer, it has been a long training camp and now he feels motivated and fresh to feed on his opponent.
