NEPRA increases electricity tariffs

Islamabad: (Wednesday, July 11, 2012) in the name of monthly fuel adjustment, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the electricity prices by Rs 1.51 per unit.

This price hike in electricity tariffs will be implemented in the bills for the month of May. However, the consumers will have to pay these charges with their December month’s bills.

An energy starved Pakistan where inflationary pressure is already very high and cost of doing the business is exorbitant, this new hike in electricity prices will only exacerbate the already worrisome conditions of the country’s
fragile economy.
