Freddie Roach: David Haye and Dereck Chisora is a 50-50 fight!

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach has spoken to BoxingScene.com about one of the most eagerly anticipated bouts of this year between former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye and former British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora, which will take place this Saturday at West Ham Upton Park Stadium in east London.

Haye, who is commonly known as the Hayemaker, will enter the ring as a red-hot favorite against Chisora. However, Roach doesn’t count Chisora out. In fact after seeing Chisora’s efforts against Vitali Klitschko and Robert Helenius, Roach believes he has an equal chance of winning the fight.

While speaking on his inclusion, Roach, who is one of most well known boxing trainers, insisted that Chisora and Haye’s fight can go either way because Haye has fought anyone for the last one year.

“I like David. He’s a good friend of mine and I hope he wins the fight. The thing is, that is not an easy fight. That fight can go either way…a 50-50 fight. Chisora reminds me a little bit of Joe Frazier without the big punch. He does come to fight. When he fought Klitschko he fought a pretty good fight. He has heart, he’s crazy. Hopefully nobody goes to jail,” Roach said to BoxingScene.com.

Chisora’s has lost three of his last four fights yet Roach feels he can upset his fellow countryman, provided he comes in good shape.

“The slight edge goes to Haye because he’s fought the more quality opponents but don’t count Chisora out because he’s not a bad fighter when he comes in shape. When he comes in heavy he sucks,” Roach said.

Haye and Chisora literally came down to blows in February in Munich, when they clashed at a press conference which followed Chisora’s twelve-round unanimous defeat to Vitali Klitschko and this is the main reason why this fight has created an enormous hype among the fans.

Nevertheless, let’s see if Dereck Chisora can really shock the world by upsetting David Haye in the ring.
