Gadgetry takes another stride toward robotics; Google’s Project Glass makes human a machine

Google can be in the news for a slew of reasons. But its latest stunt in making the human life more robotic behind the veil of freedom of information access is one thing that has created hype in the media. The new Project Glass is a revolutionary product that might not come to some people’s liking.

Wearable gadgets to help a person with information on daily activities are not news anymore. There are tons of such adornments in the market, some cheap, some expensive. What they are best at is shelling out loads of information on the dedicated tasks and enlightening the user on health, commute, navigation, et cetera.

However, the Google Glass is a different breed altogether. It features basic telecommunication services like text, MMS and phone calls; social networking with Google+ (in initial stages); navigation; online music play and photo capturing/sharing.

All this consolidates into a great package for something that does not have a 4-inch LCD and can be used without the danger of loss and breakage. However, it contributes to a more robotic life, and slavery of the gadgetry and computers.

What is good about PCs, laptops and tablets is that they can stay home if you do not want to carry them in a shoulder bag of a backpack. More or less, it is the same case with mobile phones; turn them to silent mode or switch them off altogether, if you want to get rid of the annoyance of calls and texts.

The case might be the same with Google Glass but once you get used to this accessory the way back might be hard for you to take. The company said at Google I/O that they will integrate contact lenses into the device for those who have short sightedness.

Being tech-savvy is one thing but being tech-slave is a quandary altogether. These gadgets make the user live a cyborg’s life, actually sacrificing the freedom than offering it. Google Glass Project is a new way to communicate but that would make us the men who have less contact with the surroundings and more interaction with those who are not even there in person.
