COAS Kayani to visit US for strategic dialogue: Secretary Defence

Islamabad: (Monday, July 16, 2012) Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani is to visit United States of America (Washington) for strategic dialogue, confirmed Secretary Defence, Nargis Sethi.

Sethi, who was talking to the journalists at the Parliament house, said that the date for COAS’s upcoming visit to the US is yet to be decided.

Sharing the details, she said that during the COAS’s visit, two MoUs between Pakistan and the US would be signed on Nato Supply route. She further said that the authority of signing those MoUs is there with the ministry of defence.

The Secretary for Defence further said that a draft amend Anti-Terrorism Act is being prepared so as to make legal action against apprehended terrorists more effective.

While talking to the journalists, she also expressed her optimism about the $ 1.1 billion coalition support fund from the US.
