Audrey Fontaine-Baptiste Careme claim Mixed Doubles crown at White Nights International Challenge

France’s Audrey Fontaine and Baptiste Careme powerfully made their presence felt as they defied all odds to claim Mixed Doubles crown after beating their higher ranked rivals Agnieszka Wojtkowska and Wojciech Szkudlarczyk of Poland in the
title match of last week’s White Nights International Challenge 2012 which was held in Russia.

The fourth seeded Fontaine and Careme, who were tremendous throughout the tournament, continued their killing run and stamped their supremacy over their third seeded opponents in a phenomenal way.

The in-form Fontaine and Careme played with confidence in the entire battle and ended it up in just 34 minutes without dropping any set to their Polish rivals.

On the other hand, the higher ranked Wojciech and Agnieszka could not extend their impressive performance in the championship as they failed to play positive and aggressive badminton and lost the title match without showing their brilliance.

Fontaine and Careme showed their impressive craft in opening game by playing composed badminton and did not committed mistakes at early stage which help them to get strong position on board.

The aggressive French couple played planned badminton by keeping the pace quite high and set up an impressive gap of 11-7 until the one-minute break.

Fontaine and Careme continued their superb performance after the mid-game interval and did not let their higher ranked challengers to narrow the score at any stage.

The impressive French players were in commanding position in concluding half and easily won the opening set with a 21-17 score on the board.

The incredible Fontaine and Careme remained on track in the second game as they showed urgency and occupied the driving seat by playing attacking and positive badminton.

Until the one-minute interval, Fontaine and Careme remained ahead on score board at 11-5.

The French couple did not lose their focus at any stage after the break and ended up the set with a staggering difference of 21-10 on the score board.

Fontaine and Careme grabbed the title after thrashing their Polish rivals in straight games with a comprehensive margin of 21-17 and 21-10.
