Ford Focus Electric (2012): Full Review – Part 7

First off, the Nav takes all the time in the world to start, around ten minutes to get the car’s current location. Though all the maps are saved locally in an SD card, the location on the map comes up sometimes when the car is half-way through the distance. This might be because of the faulty GPS transmitter. Ford might need to bring a fix to this problem if they want to achieve good sales in such a marvellous vehicle.

One more thing that puts you off is the lack of distinction between roads and footpaths. Pavements for walking also have the same graphical depiction as the roads. This does not bode well for pedestrians if someone in the Focus Electric is in a hurry. This problem is even simpler to fix than hardware. Ford just needs to release an update to the graphical mode and everything will be lined up straight.

Final Take

Ford Focus Electric is a great hatchback with an attractive price tag of $39,200 for an EV. The innards are cool and contented with all the latest connectivity features and equipment. The only drawback is the navigation system, but as mentioned earlier, it can be fixed easily.

Though it might not attract the general public and it may not have been targeted at one, but for early adopters it is a good opportunity to get their hands on an electric vehicle. Moreover, it is solely designed for those who want a comfortable ride with highly rated safety. Those who love to dig a hole in the floor should not go for this one, it will be a complete turn off.
