David Price: David Haye’s fight with me wouldn’t generate any interest worldwide!

The 29-year-old unbeaten British prospect David Price is hopeful of a potential fight against former British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora next year, who was knocked out earlier this month on July 14 by former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye.

“We haven’t got a TV deal because Sky have dropped out. Frank [Maloney] is talking to a couple of broadcasters, including BoxNation,” said Price when asked about the possibility of a fight against Chisora.

“In 12 months’ time I definitely want to be European champion and knocking on the door of world-class level,” he added.

Haye and Chisora both came down to blows in February in Munich at a press conference, which followed Chisora’s twelve round unanimous defeat to Vitali Klitschko. Therefore, their controversial grudge match, which was sanctioned by Luxemburg Boxing Federation, proved to be a huge commercial success.

Despite losing the fight, Chisora stands a better chance of facing Price because Haye will announce his retirement for the second time, if he doesn’t get a fight with Vitali Klitschko.

When asked, Price also revealed that he wants to face Chisora instead of Haye since he believes his fight with Haye will create no interest among the audiences.

Price insisted Haye has been a world champion and he will want to fight the very best out there instead of me.

Price said, “David Haye’s got nothing to gain by fighting me. I’m just British champion and have only had 13 fights. He’s a former world champion and he wants to be fighting the very best.”

He added, “A fight with me wouldn’t generate any interest worldwide, although it probably would in Britain.”

Well, all said and done, Vitali is currently set defend his title against title Manuel Charr on September 8 at the Olympic Indoor Arena in Moscow, Central Federal District but let’s see if he sets up a fight with David Haye afterwards.

Meanwhile, Dereck Chisora is trying his best these days to get his BBBoC boxing license back in order to fight David Price.
