Camille Muffat and Ye Shiwen impress in swimming events – 2012 London Olympic Games

Camille Muffat of France and Ye Shiwen of China won gold medallist of Women’s 400m freestyle and 400m Individual Medley (IM) at the 2012 London Olympic Games in London Aquatic Centre.

Muffat remained dominant over her opponents throughout the discipline and earned gold medal of the discipline in an Olympic record-breaking effort.

She displayed her astonishing efforts in the eight-lap discipline and climbed the medal rostrum for gold medal in an Olympic record time of 4 minutes and 01.45 seconds.

The champion was chased by Schmitt, who was 0.32 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and reached the finishing blockade for silver medal by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 01.77 seconds.

The silver medallist was trailed by defending champion, Rebecca Adlington, who failed to live up to the expectations of her supporters and ended third in the race by producing a time of 4 minutes and 03.01 seconds.

Fourth position of the discipline was obtained by Lotte Friis of Denmark, who stayed only 0.97 seconds slower from the third position holder and settled on the finishing wall as fourth fastest swimmer with the timing of 4 minutes and 03.98 seconds.

Following that, the audience witnessed a world record shattering effort of Shiwen in the distant IM discipline. With her invincible efforts, Shiwen showed no leniency to her rivals and reached the finishing blockade for gold medal in a time of 4 minutes
and 28.43 seconds.

The gold medallist was followed by Elizabeth Beisel of USA, who remained three body lengths slower from giving her a tough time and finished second by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 31.27 seconds.

The second position holder was traced by Li Xuanxu of China, who stayed only one and a half body length apart and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for bronze medal by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 32.91 seconds.

Furthermore, the arena applauded for furious efforts of all participants while the position holders received medal and accolades at the prize ceremony after the session.
