Iris Wang, a budding shuttler of USA, put up superb performance on court as she defeated Canada’s Joanna Che in Girl’s Singles U19 pre-quarter-final at the XXI Pan Am Junior Championships 2012 in Canada, on July 25.

The third seeded Iris, who delivered an impressive performance in all of her battles in the tournament, continued her winning run and easily overpowered Joanna without showing her any mercy.

The in-form USA shuttler was in commanding position as she played dominating badminton and took the first game easily. Nevertheless, she worked a little hard in the second set and registered a superb win over her rival by ending up the match with a wonderful
margin.

On the other hand, the lower ranked Joanna could not capitalize her impressive skills and also failed to take inspiration from the support of her home crowd.

The local shuttler remained unable to put up strong resistance to Iris and lost the match rather easily without taking any game from the USA shuttler.

Iris found a perfect start as she started her run in a calm way as she played with precision and increased her speed in all areas to take a reasonable lead.

The in-form USA player did not lose her focus while dictating the pace of rallies and took a stunning lead of 11-5 until the end of opening half.

Iris continued her impressive performance by displaying her hard-to-learn craft after the mid-game interval and eventually won the game with a one-sided margin of 21-9.

In the second game, Joanna showed elevation as she played much better badminton and did not let Iris to take a big lead this time.

On the contrary, Iris tried her best to take charge of rallies but failed to take a comfortable lead and could only manage 11-9 gap until the mid-game break.

After the one-minute interval, Joanna changed her tactics and worked well to make the score levelled at 12-12.

Nevertheless, Iris remained focused on court and played right shots at the right time which helped her to take the second game with a superb score of 21-17.

The USA shuttler emerged as the winner in this Girl’s Singles contest with a superb 21-9 and 21-17 margin on the score board.
