‘Jism 2’ impressive at the box office

Directed by Pooja Bhatt, ‘Jism 2’, which featured the Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone in the lead role, has done quite well the box office. Although the much-hyped film, which was released on August 3, failed to break records set by the films likes ‘Murder 2’ and ‘Jannat 2’, it collected an amount of Rs 21 crore in the opening weekend.

The amount might not look that much but it is quite good for a product which was made a total cost of Rs 6 to 7 crores.

‘Jism 2’ didn’t have a very good or impressive storyline but due to the presence of Leone, the film forced a lot of people flock into the cinema halls.

Famous trade experts, Taran Adarsh and Joginder Tuteja, have shared their opinions with the media over the box office performance of ‘Jism 2’.

“Started with a bang on Thursday [previews; Raksha Bandhan holiday] and Friday, but slipped considerably on Saturday itself. Though most films witness a decline in business on Saturday, the fall in this case was alarming. The film, however, was better on Sunday, but lower than Friday, which, again, comes as a surprise, since most films fare the best on Sundays,”  trade expert Taran Adarsh wrote for Bollywood Hungama.

“Commercially though, the job has been done for the film. When it was expected that the film would at best collect 12 crores over the weekend, that number was reached by close of Saturday itself. The film is now sitting pretty on a 20 crore base after a good Sunday, which is simply huge for a product that has been made on a very low cost,” Joginder Tuteja wrote for Koimoi.com.

Well, all said and done, ‘Jism 2’ is not far behind from ‘Murder 2’ and ‘Jannat 2’ as they racked in Rs 22 crores and Rs 23 crores in their opening weekends respectively.

Pooja Bhatt is now planning to make ‘Jism 3’ in 3D and as per the report Ram Gopal Varma’s discovery Nathalia Kaur will play the lead role in it.
