Government will not allow misuse of blasphemy laws: President Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari has said the government will not allow the misuse of any law against vulnerable groups, saying there were aware of the misuse of blasphemy law against the religious minorities for vested interests.

The presidency hosted a ceremony to mark National Minorities Day in which the president urged all stakeholders together to create harmony in the society.

Calling upon religious scholars from all schools of thought to get become unite and consider ways and means to stop the misuse of blasphemy laws.

He noted, “On this day we reaffirm that despite belonging to different faiths we are one nation and together we march for a prosperous Pakistan. The government is committed to ensuring equal rights for all minority communities”.

He also highlighted the importance of the National Minorities Day. “August 11 has a special significance in our national calendar as it was on this day in 1947 when the Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah made a historic speech in the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan,” he added.

President Zardari emphasized the need for removing distrust and misinterpretations among the followers of different religions. In his view, there was an urgent need in the world today more than ever for removing distrust and misunderstandings among the followers of different faiths.

He added, “We all must work together to prove wrong those who predict clash of civilization”.

The president counted government’s measures for the welfare of minorities, saying that reservation of 5% quota in government jobs, reservation of 4 seats for minorities in the Senate and hundred percent increase in the Minority Development Fund.

He further said that declaration of 11th August, as Minority Day and establishment of prayer rooms in all prisons of Pakistan were some of the initiatives taken by the ruling PPP to bring minorities into the mainstream of national life.

President Zardari expressed confidence that the provinces will ensure that all communities could freely profess and practice their religions and also protect their legitimate and rightful interests after the passage of the 18th Constitutional Amendment.

    Government Will Not Allow Misuse the LAW:- This is the biggest joke coming from the top most corrupt so called President of Pakistan. he or his cohorts can do away with any Law to fill his ocean of black moeny.
