Why the bloodshed continues in Karachi

For past one decade or so, Karachi has been a victim of severe bloodshed and extremely deteriorated law and order situation. While almost all mentionable political parties in the city clamour about the lawlessness prevalent in the city, no one is ready to
play its role to curb this phenomenon.

Referring to the lawlessness, increasing crimes, murders and extortions in the economic hub of Pakistan, the political leaders either blame each other or the hidden hands for the current worrisome conditions. However, when an independent security operation
is launched to arrest the bandits causing these problems, it is them who create much hue and cry, because most of such culprits enjoy their absolute support.

Take for example a few days old news thread on the social media, that stated that for not paying Rs 25000 Fitrana, a young lad of a white collar family was killed by the MQM workers. Now if you ask some MQM leader on the television, he will not only deny
this news, but also swear upon the innocence of their workers, while the representatives of rivaling parties including ANP and PPP would confirm this news with the same intensity.

While this situation is likely to continue, the question as to how this bloodshed can be stopped still remains unanswered. The only possible answer to this situation is to engage the law and order and security personnel with least political or ethnic affiliations,
and who could maintain merit during their investigation while completely nullifying the political pressure.

If the people in Karachi want to get the once exemplary peace of this city of lights back, they will have to make politically rational and correct decisions. They must know that the MQM, ANP and PPP have always remained part of the problem and have always
exhibited resistance to all the plans that have sought for solutions of the problem.

If politically rational decisions are not made on part of Karachi dwellers, they will continue to pay the price of their naïvity with increased bloodshed, extortions, abductions and blackmailing.
