Leah Smith and Matthew Levings dominate gold medals – Junior Pan Pacific Championships

Leah Smith and Matthew Levings captured gold medals of the 400m freestyle in Women and Men’s corner at the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships.

With her laudable efforts, Smith stayed nearly two body lengths faster from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 07.10 seconds for gold medal.

The champion was chased by Chelsea Chenault, who remained 2.14 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing blockade as second position holder by posting a time of 4 minutes and 09.24 seconds.

Chenault was followed by Leah Neale, who stayed 0.77 seconds behind and tapped the wall for bronze medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 10.01 seconds.

Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Alexandra Aitchison, who stayed 3.32 seconds slower and posted a time of 4 minutes and 13.33 seconds.

Aitchison was chased by Laura Crockart, who stayed nearly half body length behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade with an effort of 4 minutes and 13.83 seconds for fifth position.

Following that, Levings dominated the playoff of Men’s 400m freestyle. With his continuous efforts, Levings remained in a lead of half body length over his closest opponent and tapped the finishing wall for gold medal with a timing of 3 minutes and 51.71
seconds.

The gold medallist was trailed by Mack Horton, who stayed 0.55 seconds slower and emerged on the victory stand for silver medal by submitting a time of 3 minutes and 52.26 seconds.

The second position holder was followed by Evan Pinion, who remained just one stroke apart and appeared on the wall as third fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 3 minutes and 52.60 seconds.

Similarly, Pinion was chased by Janardan Burns, who stayed 0.66 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade as fourth fastest swimmer with a timing of 3 minutes and 53.26 seconds.

In addition, the crowd appreciated notable efforts of all participants in their exclusive events while the position holders collected their medals and accolades after the session.
