Pakistan Premier League kicks off tomorrow

The top flight is starting on the 5th of September, with KRL aiming to defend their hard-earned title.

Injuries are rife as the show-piece events is give the go-ahead tomorrow, with KESC losing out on their main man Salam.

“It’s unfortunate that we lost Salam ahead of the tough league,” KESC manager Hasan Baloch said.

Even the reigning champions are struggling with a number of omissions and face a tough task in keeping the title in Rawalpindi.

“Due to injuries to some of our key footballers we are in trouble but we will not only try to get a good start in the league but will also try to perform well in the AFC President Cup’s finals,” said Tariq Lutfi.

Match bonus of Rs30,000 will be given to the competing teams in every match. The winners will take away Rs15,000, the losers will receive Rs10,000 while Rs2500 each will be handed over to the best player and leading scorer of every show. The winners of the
league will qualify for the AFC President’s Cup.
