Yang Yang and Jacqueline Freney win swimming events – 2012 Paralympic Games

Yang Yan and Jacqueline Freney won gold medals of the Men and Women’s 100m freestyle in S2 and S7 class respectively at the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

Yang smothered hopes of his opponents in the two-lap discipline as he rushed his way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 03.71 seconds.

The gold medallist was trailed by Dmitrii Kokarev, who stayed almost 13 seconds apart and finished second in the event by reporting an effort of 2 minutes and 16.46 seconds.

Kokarev was followed by Aristeidis Makrodimitris, who stayed almost five seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and emerged on the finishing end as third position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 21.04 seconds.

Subsequently, Makrodimitris was chased by Jacek Czech, who stayed 1.80 seconds behind and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting an effort of 2 minutes and 22.84 seconds.

Fifth position of the race was secured by Iad Josef Shalabi, who remained two body lengths behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 24.73 seconds.

Afterwards, Freney occupied gold medal of the same in her category. With her impeccable efforts in the double lap freestyle event, Freney proved her mettle for the title in a time of 1 minute and 09.39 seconds.

The champion was chased by Cortney Jordan, who stayed two and a half body length behind and touched the wall for second position by producing a time of 1 minute and 11.63 seconds.

Jordan was followed by Susannah Rodgers, who stayed 0.98 seconds apart and completed the podium by winning bronze medal of the race with a timing of 1 minute and 12.61 seconds.

Fourth position of the race was gained by Ani Palian, who was 1.06 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall by submitting a time of 1 minute and 13.67 seconds.

In addition, the position holders received medals for their gruelling efforts at the prize ceremony of the event.
