Shah Rukh Khan wants Bollywood to return to Kashmir!

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was in Kashmir in order to participate in the shooting of Yash Chopra’s untitled film. The actor remained in the beautiful valley for almost nine days and he now hopes that more filmmakers will return to the picturesque destination in future.

Khan’s untitled movie, in which will be seen playing a lead role opposite to Katrina Kaif, is slated to hit the cinema halls on Diwali (November 13) and the 46-year-old actor is confident that after watching the film many people from South Asia and South East Asia will visit the valley.

“I am not so big but when people see the film made by a big banner with big names associated with it, people will come. I am hopeful of that,” the 46-year-old actor told reporters.

While speaking on his inclusion the actor, who is also referred to as the King of Bollywood, stated that Kashmir was one of the favourite destinations for the filmmakers before the beginning of militancy in the 90’s.

“I am hopeful that more filmmakers will come to Kashmir. They have been coming before (militancy) on a larger scale,” Shah Rukh said.

Many out there have criticised Bollywood films for portraying Kashmir in a negative light but when asked Khan, he said he won’t comment on anything which is beyond his knowledge.

He said, “Any aspect that is geographical, ideological or political, the reason I won’t comment on it in depth is that my knowledge is lacking. The biggest issue we have is that when people talk about things they don’t know.”

“In Indian film industry, the storytelling is always going to be dependent on the storyteller and they will decide what story to tell. I do understand that lot of people have issues… this kind of cinema should be made, that kind of cinema,” he added.

Well, all said and done, seeing the hype which is among the audiences, it is fair to say that Khan’s movie has all the hallmarks of becoming a blockbuster. Nevertheless, let’s see if people really visit Kashmir after watching it.
