Josef Craig and Jacqueline Freney win gold medals – 2012 Paralympic Games

Josef Craig and Jacqueline Freney won gold medal of the Men and Women’s 400m freestyle in S7 class at the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

His tremendous effort remained in a lead of four body lengths over his closest challenger as he touched the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 42.81 seconds.

The gold medallist was traced by Shiyun Pan, who stayed nearly 3.40 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and captured silver medal of the event by producing a time of 4 minutes and 46.22 seconds.

Pan was followed by Andrey Gladkov, who stayed 0.54 seconds slower from his former finisher and emerged on the finishing blockade as third position holder by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 46.76 seconds.

Similarly, Gladkov was chased by Jonathan Fox, who stayed one and a half body length away from overpowering his former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 48.03 seconds for fourth position.

Fifth finest spot of the race was secured by Mihovil Spanja, who stayed nearly four seconds behind and hit the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 52.22 seconds.

Afterwards, Freney occupied gold medal of the equivalent event in Women’s corner. With her stupendous pace, she showed no leniency to her opponents and earned her way to the medal rostrum by touching the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 59.02 seconds.

The champion was trailed by Cortney Jordan, who stayed nearly 19 seconds slower and stepped on the victory stand as second position holder by reporting a time of 5 minutes and 18.55 seconds.

Jordan was traced by Susannah Rodgers, who was only one stroke slower from improving her position and transpired on the finishing end as third fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 5 minutes and 18.93 seconds.

The bronze medallist was followed by Ani Palian, who remained 2.80 seconds away from reaching the podium and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by clocking a time of 5 minutes and 21.73 seconds.

In addition, the winners were awarded medals for their gruelling efforts after the session.
