Shafqat Amanat Ali, who is son of the legendary Pakistani singer Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, believes that the India-Pakistan musical bondage is above all the disputes.

Shafqat, who is the lead vocalist of the Pakistani rock band ‘Fuzon’, has given chartbusters like ‘Tere Naina’ and ‘Mitwa’ and he feels music is doing a great job in bringing the two countries together.

While speaking on his inclusion, he told the media that the bond between India and Pakistan has strengthened over the years and music has played a vital role in it.

While sharing thoughts, Shafqat was all praises for Bollywood as he reckons the industry has a big heart and it welcomes singers from all over the world.

“It’s a huge market and I think with Bollywood growing so much, there is room for singers, not just from Pakistan but from all over the world which we can see,” said Shafqat in an email interview.

“Of course, with Pakistani singers there is no language barrier, so the market and possibilities are all the more… However, the market will only grow strong if we curb piracy as we are all in the same boat,” he added.

“Culture is always the best way to bring about people to people contact and bridge distances. Now we see a lot of Indian artists also performing in Pakistan and we are in India often for the same and I feel proud of this,” he said.

Shafqat Amanat Ali, who is now a very well-known name in Bollywood, started working in India when Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy noticed and offered him ‘Mitwa’ in Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’.

The 47-year-old has sung for the Hindi movies like “Yeh Honsla” in “Dor”, “Tere Naina” in “My Name Is Khan” and “Tu Hi Mera” in “Jannat 2”.

Apart from Shafqat, many other Pakistani singers are also performing in India. The likes of Atif Aslam, Adnan Sami and Ali Zafar are the most prominent among them.
