Ricky ‘Hitman’ Hatton, former WBA (Super), IBF & The Ring Light Welterweight Champion and WBA Welterweight Champion, is locking many headlines over the past few months because rumours of his comeback are circulating in the media.

Although Hatton has not confirmed anything as of yet, his fellow countryman Amir Khan has already made up his mind to put their friendship aside for a super-fight that could sell out Wembley.

Both pugilists, who have a huge fan following in the country, could meet in a Battle of Britain tussle next summer and Khan’s manager, Asif Vali, reckons: “It would be huge. It would be a massive superfight.”

Hatton is scheduled for a press conference tomorrow in which he will announce his ring return after a gap of three years. He is also likely to announce a fight at the MEN Arena on November 24 and Khan’s manager believes, if Hatton’s comeback proves to be a success, the former two-weight world champion could then move on towards a mouth-watering clash with his man.

“It could sell 100,000 at Wembley and everyone would want to see it. A fight between Amir and Ricky further down the line would be huge. “I’ve spoken to Amir about this and, while he and Ricky are good friends, he knows boxing is a business.”

Hatton walked away from the sport after suffering a brutal second round knockout against the Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao but the successful promoter and trainer is now buzzing about his return.

Vali said: “With Ricky coming back, people will inevitably talk about a fight between him and Amir and whether it will happen.

“I’m sure Ricky will be asked that question at his press conference on Friday and if the opportunity for them to fight arises, then who knows?

“Seeing him come back will be great for boxing and British boxing in particular. “He’s still young, he’s 33, he’s still got it. He’s got that enthusiasm back.”

Well, all said and done, let’s see if Ricky Hatton really makes a comeback because it would certainly be a very good news for the boxing fans.
