Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has appealed to the Hindu community members not to leave the country, saying it’s appalling how the government is ignoring the minorities in the country.

Speaking to the media, the two-time former premier of the country said the country belongs to the minorities as much as it belongs to the Muslims.

He extended support to the minorities, saying that the country couldn’t complete without the people belonging to other religions and school of thoughts.

It is vital to mention here that Nawaz Sharif visited Karachi to inquire the garment factory where more than 250 people were lost their lives in a deadly fire.

When he was asked to comment on the controversial local government ordinance for Sindh, he stated that having two systems for one province doesn’t make sense.

He observed, “The ordinance was introduced by the two parties – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) without discussing it with other stakeholders.

He remarked, “Issues like these should be discussed in the National Assembly and the Senate; all provinces across Pakistan should have a uniform system. Steps taken without national consensus don’t last for long”.

The former premier expressed concerns over the havoc caused by the recent heavy downpour in the province, saying that the provincial government should concentrate on rehabilitating those who are affected by the rains rather than on issues like local government system.

He continued that there should on local government system in the province because Sindh was not the fiefdom of two parties. He said all political and religious parties had opposed this dual system.

He stressed, “The people of Sindh have not completely recovered from last year’s floods and they are now facing problems because of this year’s monsoon season”.

Nawaz Sharif while commenting on law and order situation said that people were falling victims to target killings daily but the government was doing nothing to stop it.

He said, “This is the failure of the PPP government which enjoys majority in the province”.

He rejected the impression that the PML-N had contact with the PPP government, saying that other coalition partners were also quitting the alliance.

Mian Nawaz Sharif forgot what happened with Christian community in Punjab, with Ahmedi community and how SSP and LeJ playing havoc with the lives of people. It is not a myth but reality. Furthermore the role of opposition in curbing sectarian violence is negligible. Sharif is equally involved in the mess that has been created in the previous regime but extended in the presented government. Lip service and telephonic conversations are not enough. I don’t see any hard time opposition has given to government on this issue or other issue. There is agreement on turns “Bari” but not on resolving public issues.
