Anger Management Program can lower Blood Pressure

A 10-week program can help high school students to reduce anger, stress and blood pressure, a study by researchers in Georgia finds.

The program was tested with 86 ninth-graders in Augusta, Georgia and is designed to fit into the high school curriculum. 30 percent of teens, who had higher blood pressure prior to the class, demonstrated a two point decrease after the 10-week program.

"We believe we have an effective method that any school could use to help curtail violence and keep adolescents out of trouble with an improved mental state that benefits their physical well-being," says psychologist Dr. Vernon A. Barnes.
