David Haye rules out fighting Vitali Klitschko in Ukraine on safety ground

Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye desperately wants to set up a mega showdown with the current WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko but he has said he will not fight the 6ft 7in boxer in Ukraine because of racist threats he has received.

The 31-year-old brash Londoner told the media that he has received many death threats from the racist Ukrainian people and he doesn’t want to risk his life.

“I’ve never been to Ukraine but I have heard it’s very dangerous for a black man,” said Haye.

“There are crazy racists who have already sent me death threats.

“So Germany would be the best and safest place for me to beat Vitali and get out of the stadium alive.”

The Hayemaker lost his title to Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg last year and when he was not given a rematch he walked away from the sport. However, he swiftly made a comeback and beat his fellow Briton Dereck Chisora in London in July.

Chisora pushed Vitali to the full distance prior to Haye and perhaps this is a reason why Haye thinks he can easily shrug off the powerful pugilist, who is more commonly known as Dr. Ironfist.

“He (Vitali) has promised the world so many times that he could knock me out – that is rubbish,” added Haye.

“I’m too fast, too sexy and too talented to be blown away by a large, slow robot from the Ukraine.

“I think the fight Haye against Vitali Klitschko is the only heavyweight fight the world wants to see.”

He said, “I am not interested in fighting against 50 wimps like the Klitschkos do. I want the big fights that no fan wants to miss.”

Well, all said and done, Vitali has not given any green signal to David Haye for the fight but it seems as if the Brit wants to force the Ukrainian by constantly bringing his name into the headlines.
