TTR World Snowboard Tour brings Aspen and Tignes version of X Games onboard

The American and European version of X Games are officially part of Ticket to Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour starting this winter, TTR Pro Snowboarding announced on Monday.

The addition of two of the most prestigious winter sports events to the snowboarding tour is bound to make the season even more exciting.

The level of competitive snowboarding is expected to be much higher than previous years, which is really saying something since the action delivered by TTR World Snowboard Tour since its inception in 2002 has been nothing short of phenomenal.

The top riders from around the globe make the most of the opportunity to prove their mettle and earn recognition for their skills.

Events such as the Beijing and Innsbruck Air & Style competition, Arctic Challenge and the Burton US as well as European Opens held the 6Star status during the tour, offering athletes an opportunity to get their hands on the coveted TTR ranking points and consequently improving their overall standings.

Both the Aspen as well as Tignes X Games have been sanctioned as 6Star event, thus adding to the thrill in store for the fans this season.

The news of X Games becoming part of the TTR World Snowboard Tour has already sent a wave of announcement within the snowboarding community, who are excited to see the two islands coming together.

“The X Games is one of the most important events to us,” 2012 TTR Big Air champion Seppe Smits said. “It’s great that it’s a part of the World Snowboard Tour now. It’s also relieving to know that with the Grand Prix serving as both Tour points and World Cup result, this gives us a little breathing room in an extremely packed season. We all prefer to ride the World Snowboard Tour events and appreciate the efforts of TTR to work on unifying the tour and making it less hard on us to plan.”

So far, the only 6Star representation of the TTR World Snowboard Tour in North America had been US Burton Open. With the inclusion of the Aspen edition of X Games to the roster, the upcoming season of the tour is expected to attract a lot of attention in the region.
