Sho Sasaki beats Misbun Ramdan Mohmed Misbun in round-of-16 clash at Indonesia Open GP Gold

Japan’s top shuttler Sho Sasaki had to dig into his reserves in Men’s Singles round-of-16 when he faced a tough resistance from Misbun Ramdan Mohmed Misbun of Malaysian and narrowly won the battle at Indonesia Open GP Gold Badminton 2012 in Indonesia, on
September 27.

The left-handed Sasaki, who is World Number Six at the moment, had to face a severe treatment from his young opponent but he managed to take control of the game when it mattered most and won the match with a close score.

The second seeded Sasaki was not ready for a strong show of top quality badminton put up by Misbun Ramdan in the first game.

Nevertheless, the Japanese found his rhythm and managed to win the match by taking the following sets and advanced into quarter-final stage.

On the other hand, the underdog Misbun Ramdan proved his mettle by playing with aggression and snatched the first set from Sasaki in a tremendous fashion.

But Misbun Ramdan could not live up to the expectations in the following games and lost the battle with a reasonable margin on score board.

The higher ranked Sasaki started his campaign in a dominating fashion in first game but failed to maintain his control of the pace and remained struggling in opening half.

After the one-minute break, the second seeded Sasaki increased his speed but could not stop the rapid progress of his challenger and lost the game with a comfortable margin of 16-12.

In the second set, Misbun Ramdan again took a reasonable lead until the end of first half.

After the break, Malaysian shuttler could not maintain his upper hand as Sasaki increased his speed and won the set with a decent 21-15 score on the board.

In the decider, Sasaki continued his domination on court and remained ahead of his Malaysia opponent until the one-minute interval.

The Japanese shuttler was in complete control of rallies and he remained successful in taking the final set with a reasonable margin of 21-18.

Sasaki narrowly defeating Misbun Ramdan in this hard-fought competition by a close 16-21, 21-15 and 21-18 score on the board.
