Amir Khan: I could have picked an easy opponent than Carlos Molina

Former IBF and WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan will lock horns with the undefeated prospect Carlos Molina in December as he is seeking to end his two bout losing streak. Although full details of the fight have not been revealed as of yet, it will take place somewhere in United States.

Many out there believe Molina is a complete no match for Khan but the Brit feels he has chosen a though opponent for himself.

Khan said to the Dailystar.co.uk “I could have picked an easy fight but I’m going to have a tough one next because I want to bring the world titles back to Britain.”

“Molina is a good fighter who has yet to taste defeat, so I know that he will be very dangerous,” Khan said. “He is a tricky fighter who possess a lot of natural speed. I always want to face hungry young fighters and in Molina I’m up against a guy who has ambitions of world title success.”

The Bolton man, who is more commonly known as King Khan, suffered back to back defeats against Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia, although Khan feels he deserved the win in the Peterson fight.

However, Khan has put his past behind him and he is confident of getting back under the main lights. He has made a switch in trainers and now Virgil Hunter will be in his corner instead of Freddie Roach.

“I’m really pleased that Virgil Hunter is to become my new trainer,” Khan said. “Everyone in boxing knows about his skills and the success he has enjoyed over the last few years.

He said, “I’m looking forward to the start of my training camp and working on some new things with him. With Virgil in my corner, I know that I can get back to the very top of the light-welterweight division.”

Well, all said and done, let’s see if Amir Khan can really become the first man ever to beat Carlos Molina in the ring.
