Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that he was only fulfilling his duty as a citizen of the country by expressing concerns about the deteriorating situation of Balochistan.

While speaking to the media, he said that his statements regarding the security situation in Balochistan were only to indicate upcoming dangers.

He noted, “The Balochistan issue is of a sensitive nature and that it needed attention as the matter had already been delayed a lot.”

He further stated, I want to give this message to the government that I am not deliberately criticizing its governance – I am doing this for national interest, not for any personal gains. The government could have easily done a lot in its tenure of over 4.5 years.”

Earlier, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the government was ready to pull Frontier Crops out if Nawaz Sharif takes the responsibility of security situation in the province.

However, the PML-N leader countered Kaira’s statement saying that the entire country is talking about missing persons and who are they?

He raised a question saying that why are they apprehended and who is responsible for their abductions?

He observed, “This is the duty of the incumbent government to take notice of all this so at least the wounds of Balochistan can be bandaged. The government should take notice of the declining security situation in Balochistan while the locals were still demanding betterment as it will be the government that will lose the very chance of even meeting their demands.”

The PML-N leader continued that if Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti was murdered in the previous government’s tenure then the incumbent should at least expose the culprit and bring before the justice.

The government should remove the FC if it believes it is hampering the process of free and fair elections in the province.

At the occasion, Asma Jehangir concurred with Sharif’s statement, saying that it was quite strange that PPP leaders were demanding that he take the responsibility although it was currently ruling the country.

Balochistan issue is the most critical issue which is the result of folly and faulty polcies of dictatorship. Present Govt is doing its best to bring peace in Balochistan. Even the present Govt had nothing to do with the wrong doings of a dictator but still Zardari apologized from the people of Balochistan and vowed to compensate their deprivations. Later Government announced Aghaz.e.Haqooq.e.Balochistan package and called All parties conference to peacefully resolve this issue but at that time no party cam forward to stand with Government. It is dual nature of Mian Nawaz Sharif that he at once starts political point scoring leaving behind national interests and implications of his statements on country and nation. In the history of Pakistan current Government is only government that left no stone unturned to resolve this issued. President Zardari often every olive branch to Baloch leaders to bring them in national stream but lack of interest on the part of opposition and main parties resulted in complete disaster.
