Indonesia Open GP Gold: Sony Dwi Kuncoro reserves his berth in Men’s Singles final

Indonesia’s Sony Dwi Kuncoro stretched his winning performance and reached into Men’s Singles final after defeating China’s Huan Gao in semi-final showdown at Indonesia Open GP Gold Badminton 2012 in Indonesia, on September 29.

The World Number 23 Kuncoro, who remained impressive throughout the competition, remained consistent in his confident play and he managed to lad a title berth by showing exit to his Chinese opponent in a completely dominating manner.

The in-form Kuncoro showed his remarkable craft on court and did not let his rival to play his normal game. He took 41 minutes to end up the winning run of Huan by finishing up the match in straight games with a lopsided margin.

On the other hand, Huan failed to put up strong show in front of his experienced Indonesian opponent. He remained unable to cope up with the positive and planned play of Kuncoro and bowed down in a comfortable way.

Both contestants played to their maximum potential in the opening set of this clash and stayed neck-to-neck on score board in opening rallies.

The lower ranked Chinese player increased his speed and did not let Kuncoro to take lead and the score remained close until the one-minute break.

In the concluding half, the Indonesia Player started to employ his powerful shots by taking the bird early. He did not let Huan to catch up the difference at any stage.

Kuncoro remained in complete control of the pace at the ending points of opening set and he managed to win the first game with a close margin of 21-19.

The second game of this Men’s Singles clash was one-sided as the Indonesian shuttler employed his impressive craft and easily managed to set up an early lead.

The in-form Kuncoro remained at his best and executed powerful smashes in right areas which helped him to stay far ahead of his Chinese opponent until the end of first half.

In the concluding half, Kuncoro did not lose his focus and continued playing attacking badminton which assisted him to finish off the second game with an incredible 21-8 score on the board.

Kuncoro made his home fans happy by finishing up this semi-final contest in two games with an incredible difference of 21-19 and 21-8.
