Katinka Hosszu and Darian Townsend seizes gold medals – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup

Katinka Hosszu and Darian Townsend seized gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) and Men’s 200m IM respectively at the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup.

She stayed almost 1.50 seconds ahead of her closest competitor and touched the wall for gold medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 04.24 seconds.

The champion was traced by Melissa Ingram, who was 1.38 seconds apart and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 05.62 seconds for second position.

Ingram was followed by Daryna Zevina, who stayed one and a half body length slower from her foregoing finisher and ended third in the event by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 07.17 seconds.

The Ukrainian swimmer was traced by Fei Wang, who stayed almost four seconds apart and touched the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 11.06 seconds.

Fifth finest spot of the event was secured by Zsuzsanna Jakabos, who was 0.26 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 11.32 seconds.

Afterwards, Townsend dominated the playoff of 200m IM. He stayed just an inch ahead of his closest rival and earned his way to the top of podium by clocking a time of 1 minute and 53.75 seconds.

The champion was traced by Cseh, who was 0.10 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall for second position by producing an effort of 1 minute and 53.85 seconds.

The silver medallist was trailed by Daiya Seto, who stayed full body length slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall for bronze medal with an effort of 1 minute and 54.78 seconds.

Seto was chased by Simon Sjoedin, who remained four body lengths apart and settled on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 58.77 seconds for fourth position.

Subsequently, Sjoedin enjoyed a benefit of nearly five minutes over Kai Wai David Wong, who sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for fifth spot by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 03.70 seconds.

In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts after the session.
