Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday termed North Waziristan a hub of terrorists, saying that the government is seriously considering a military operation in the tribal region.

The minister while speaking to the media at Karachi airport referred the Taliban as oppressors, adding that the entire nation was united against them.

Malik further said that the terrorists had not just attacked 14-year-old child rights activist Malala Yousafzai but had attacked the entire nation.

Rehman Malik said that all arrangements had been made to shift Malala Yousafzai to Germany for treatment on the directions of the doctors. He further stated the minister said that next 48 hours were very critical for Malala Yousafzai.

“If the court summons me, I will provide the details that who is against the integrity of Pakistan”, Malik added.

The interior minister said that all efforts would be made for the treatment and recovery of Malala Yousafzai. Malik claimed that he knew about the accused involved in the attack on Malala.

Replying to a query, he said that the government and the military will take decision whether there is a need for an operation in North Waziristan or not,

The US has long been calling on Pakistan to go after the deadliest Afghan insurgents, the Haqqani network, which is believed to be based in North Waziristan.

It is to mention here that the Pakistani military has long been refusing to launch military offensive on US demands in North Waziristan, which according to Americans is a safe haven of Haqqani Network, a strong faction of the Afghan Taliban fighting US and Nato forces in Afghanistan.

Pakistan government and military has maintained that they will not be pushed into launching an operation in North Waziristan and those troops will only be sent in once if and when the state feels the need.
