Marco Koch and Britta Steffen capture gold medals – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup

Marco Koch and Britta Steffen captured gold medal of the Men’s 200m breaststroke and Women’s 50m freestyle at the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup.

With his impeccable efforts in the 200m discipline, Koch stayed half body length ahead of his opponents and touched the wall for gold medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 06.09 seconds.

The champion was chased by Daiya Seto, who stayed 0.59 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher with a timing of 2 minutes and 06.65 seconds.

Seto was followed by Neil Versfeld, who remained 0.98 seconds apart and completed his race in third place by producing a time of 2 minutes and 07.63 seconds.

Fourth finest spot of the event was secured by Gabriel Sousa, who was 0.66 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end with a timing of 2 minutes and 08.29 seconds.

Fifth best spot of the event was gained by Tales Cerdeira, who stayed 2.18 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 10.47 seconds.

Afterwards, Steffen seized gold medal of the freestyle discipline. With her astounding efforts in the shortest freestyle event, Steffen stayed slightly ahead of her closest competitor as she tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 24.08 seconds.

Her gold finish remained only 0.16 seconds faster from the defending champion, Therese Alshammar, who occupied silver medal of the discipline by clocking an effort of 24.24 seconds.

Alshammar was traced by Jessica Hardy, who stayed 0.17 seconds behind and secured bronze medal of the event by producing a time of 24.41 seconds.

The bronze medallist was trailed by Inge Dekker, who remained 0.33 seconds behind and sprinted her way towards the wall for fourth position by clocking a time of 24.74 seconds.

Dekker was followed by Ruta Meilutyte, who stayed just an arm-stroke slower from overpowering her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 25.03 seconds.

In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their commendable forms at the prize ceremony of the event.
