A session court on Friday accepted bail plea of Ali Imran, the Punjab Chief Minister’s son-in-law, in a case pertaining to torture on an employee of a bakery in Lahore.

According to the reports, Ali Maz Gani, a duty magistrate, has directed to submit two surety bonds of Rs50, 000 each.

A CCTV footage showed a couple of days ago seven elite force officials including an alleged body-guard of chief minister’s son-in-law Ali Imran beating up an employee of a bakery minutes after Sharif’s daughter bullied him at his shop.

In the very next day, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif ordered that his son-in-law be included in the investigation in the case, saying rule of law is dearest to him than his life.

The police on Thursday produced Imran in a local court and requested the court to send him on judicial remand.

The court approved the request and sent Imran on 14-day judicial remand. Soon after the remand, Imran’s counsel also filed bail plea in the court.

According to the First Information Report lodged under sections 148, 149 and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code, complainant Umer Hussain stated that he ran the confectionary, ‘Sweet Tooth’, in T-Block market.

On October 7, a woman came to the shop and asked for a cake; however, the shop was closed for cleaning. The employees asked her to come later when the shop would be open.

Two men, who appeared to be bodyguards of the woman, misbehaved with an employee named Irfan and left with warnings of dire consequences, Hussain added.

On the same day, the guards visited the bakery along with another man, identified the worker and escorted him outside the shop. Around six to seven Elite Force officials, who were present outside the bakery, started beating up Irfan and threatened him further.
