Scottish National Junior Championships: Ben Torrance secures Men’s Singles title to earn glory

Ben Torrance, one of the most talented and spirited shuttler from Scotland, proved his mettle as he secured Men’s Singles title after defeating his compatriot Josh Neil in the final encounter at the 2012 Scottish National Junior Championships U19 on October
14, in Scotland.

The top seeded Torrance, who remained unmatched in all aspects of the game throughout the tournament, displayed his remarkable skills and remained successful in winning the final match in a thrilling fashion.

Torrance struggled hard to find a good flow in the first game but he did not face any problem in the grabbing the following sets and he won the battle in three-games with a decent margin while taking 39 minutes on court

On the other hand, the second seeded Neil also showed his brilliance by playing attacking badminton in the first game but could not prove his worth in the following sets and eventually bowed down to his higher ranked challenger in a respectable fashion.

In the first game, the lower ranked Neil was impressive on court as he gave a shocking treatment to Torrance who failed to cope up with the pace of rallies and remained trailing behind until the break.

In the concluding half of opening set, Torrance put in extra effort and tried his best to put up strong show but failed to find a good rhythm and eventually lost the set with a margin of 15-21.

Torrance played better badminton in the following set when he was on a different level as he showed a great performance and took a wonderful lead until the end of opening half.

In the ending half, the top seeded Torrance continued showing his elevated craft and commanded rallies throughout the set and eventually took it with a stunning margin of 21-11 score on the board.

The higher ranked Torrance remained on the driving seat in the final set as he did not show any mercy to his opponent and managed to end it up by a one-sided margin of 21-10.

Torrance remained successful in winning the final encounter in hard-fought three games with an interesting margin of 15-21, 21-11 and 21-10.
