Roger Federer and David Ferrer outclassed their rivals in Group B at the ATP World Tour Finals – Tennis News

Former world number one, Roger Federer, the Spanish number two, David Ferrer, triumphed over their rivals at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, a season ending tournament taking place in London, England. The Swiss Maestro crushed Serbia’s Janko Tipsarevic
with a breadstick while Ferrer battled past the Argentinean number one, Juan Martin Del Potro, in a three-set thriller to steal the show.

Seeded second in this event, Federer needed 69 minutes to register a 6-3, 6-1 victory against the eighth seeded Serb. He was never threatened with any breakpoint and cashed four out of nine break chances to rule the battle.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion, Federer jubilantly stated in a post match press conference after registering his sixth straight win over Tipsarevic:

“I’m happy with my level of play today against Janko, who is obviously a good player. I think it’s nice conditions here. I’ve had a good year. It’s true, I feel like I’m striking the ball well after today. I hope it’s a sign for more to come hopefully.”

Ferrer on the other hand required three sets to outshine sixth seeded Del Potro. He dropped his serve twice but cashed three out of 12 break chances to clobber a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 score line in two hours and 16 minutes. The Spaniard withstood seven aces and
sought 12 break chances to prevail.

The world number five, Ferrer stated in a courtside interview after conquering the Argentine:

“It was a really tough match, [it] was very close [and] we had very good rallies. I’m very happy with my game. Maybe this year, I am playing more aggressive with my shots. I am going to the net more to finish the points.”
